Yes you! You amazing creature. You goddess of a woman who grew life, then gave life, then nurtured life.
I see you.
I hear you.
Please hear and say your name with pride. Your birth name and the name you were honoured with when you gave birth. Both are very important. YOU are very important.
Be proud of being a Mum, but please don't try to be a perfect Mum. Be proud of the woman you are, but please don't try to be a perfect woman. You can be both. You are both. A woman - amazing! A Mum - amazing!
Stop comparing yourself to everyone else thinking you should be more like them, because to be more like them you would have to be less like you, and that wouldn't be cool at all.
Don't box yourself in. Don't label yourself with anything other than ME. Be proud. Look in the mirror. Don't look at your thighs, or your belly, or your arms. Let your gaze rise and look straight into those beautiful eyes looking back at you. If you see pain, look deeper. If you see despair, look deeper. If you see doubt, look deeper. Remember who you are, underneath all the layers.
When you get a glimpse of her, hold her gaze. Soften your eyes into a gentle smile and let the smile travel to the corners of your mouth. Feel them lift, see your teeth. You might even hear yourself start to giggle...that little girl is still there, in those eyes, too.
Close your eyes. Inhale. Slowly exhale. Slowly open your eyes.
There you are. I see you. I hear you.
Fall in love with the woman that looks back at you, without looking for anyone else's approval.
Give your children the gift of showing them how to be happy with themselves by being happy with yourself. The one looking back at you in the mirror.
They see you. They hear you. They love you. You need to love you too.
You are amazing.
